Traveling into the Jungle in Indonesia

While I and the other interns were in the heart of the jungle for about 3 days, God showed me so much!  We traveled by a really small, six passenger plane to get interior. Once we were interior, we traveled by canoe. Since we were in a new village every day, we slept somewhere new every night.  Each night we slept inside a building on hard floors.  We lived by daily bread.  We would arrive in a different tribe, have a church service, sleep, and travel the next day.  In the church services, Trevor had each of us share our testimonies.  One night after traveling by canoe all day, we went to a house, laid out our mosquito nets, and then Trevor shared the gospel through pictures.  As we watched him teach the people, one little boy sat with me!  My heart about broke!  What Trevor did with the people I want to do;  I want to teach bible to tribal women and children the gospel.  After a church service, people stayed asking for help from Trevor.  Since he is a nurse, many people came to him with problems.  He went to each individual, listened to them, gave them aspirin, and prayed with them.  Then, he would go on to the next person.  It was like watching Jesus heal people from the bible!  Then we traveled again and did the same thing all over again. God taught me so much about the great sacrifice that He made.

Sometimes I would get uncomfortable during the trip.  I thought, I could never be a missionary full-time, but then God reminded me of what Jesus did.  My savior and Lord left Heaven to dwell with sinful man to save them from their sins and the wrath of God!  Jesus left Heaven, couldn't I leave America?  By His grace only, yes!

So many scriptures came to my mind on that trip:  Matthew 6:25-34; Isaiah 41:10; Romans 10:14-15.  God is so faithful and great!

Trusting God in Philadelphia

My dear church family,
"if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself." 2 Tim 2:13
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against ithe schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one"  Ephesians 6:10-13, 16.

These two scriptures have been such an encouragement to me.  Since I have arrived in Philadelphia, arrows from the Enemy have been fired, it seems, nonstop.  The enemy has been firing arrows of disbelief, and doubt. Often times I find myself doubting the inerrancy of God's word.  I find myself doubting if God even exists.  Having these doubts makes me even question the reason of sharing the gospel; thus, apathy sets in at times.  I hate that I struggle with these sins and that the arrows are constantly coming.  Yet, GOD prevails.  He has blessed me in so many ways!  He gives me the grace I need to focus my eyes on Him,  to cry out to Him, to read His word and to trust Him.  He is so faithful, especially when I am so faithless.  HE is so kind, patient, and faithful to me.  He reminds me that He is stronger than the enemy.  He is my hope and refuge.  Thank you my church family for upholding me to God through prayer.  He is so good all the time.

Although arrows have been fired, God has blessed me at World Team so much.  I arrived in Philly late Sunday evening where I met up with Lauren and Rich Kretzer.  I am staying with them.  Monday I rested and fellowshipped with them and their niece, Erin, and some friends of theirs.  It was sweet. Since Lauren works for world team, I have gone to work with her every day since Tuesday.  Here at World Team, I have had the great blessing to watch God work through World Team through Church Link.  Church Link is a division in world team that sends church-based teams to the field.  I have been blessed to work with them.  Through my working with them, I am able to learn more about World Team and see how God is using them to further His kingdom!  I really like the idea of sending church-based teams to the field.  I have also been able to catch up with a fellow racer!  Her name is Katie and she is planning to go to the UK with World Team.  It's cool seeing how God has worked in her life this last year!
Even in the midst of struggles, God is so faithful!  Praise be to Him!  I love you all and am praying for you!

In HIM ALONE,

Danielle

Mission internship to Indonesia

This past summer, God blessed me greatly by sending me on a six-week mission internship to Papua, Indonesia.   Through this internship, God further burdened me for His Great Commission calling.  God was so wonderful to meet me at every moment!  God is so faithful!  My next couple of posts will be emails that I sent to my home church while I was away.  I pray they are a blessing to all who read.

A missions-oriented blog

Since I have become a believer in Jesus Christ, God has led me to serve Him in full-time, cross-cultural, mission work.  This blog's purpose is glorify God by showing how He is making His great name known to the world through me. Thus, I will be blogging about how God is leading me to the cross-cultural mission field while I am home in America.  Lord willing, I will keep up this blog once I get to the field.
